Authors note- this is just a playful piece I decided to write today. I'm feeling in a light mood today, so I felt that this poem would fit the bill.
Once upon a time,
I really tried to rhyme,
I sat there for hours,
Thinking of flowers,
Nothing was coming to mind.
What's the delay?
My mind walked away,
She abandoned my head,
And left me here dead,
Nothing was coming to mind.
The minutes are leaving,
The clock is a theiving,
No more time to stall,
But my thoughts had hit a wall,
Nothing was coming to mind.
Then it came to me there,
While I sat in my chair,
The most wonderful thing,
Come on a golden wing,
This poem had come to mind.
I love this! It's hilarious! I love how you ended each stanza with the same sentence. That was a great idea. It also reminded me exactly of something that happened to me in 6th grade! We had to write a personal narative, and I couldn't think of anything to write it on, so I wrote it on the time I couldn't think of a topic to write about. Great job on your poem!
ReplyDeleteI would say that if I hadn't read that you were in a playful mood in your author's note, I definitely would have seen it in the poem, which is great. Sometimes a little silly fun is just what the doctor ordered. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you write about not knowing what to write. The author's note helped explain. It made reading this more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI like how your piece helped explain that you really weren't sure what to write, but you made it funny so it was really nice
ReplyDeleteIt's really cool how you worked with rhymes. Also, I like the repetition at the end of each stanza. To me, the strongest part is the third stanza.
ReplyDeletethanks guys!!
ReplyDeleteI love these poems that when you read them you have no idea why but they're just really fun to read and yours was really funny and made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI like your repetition with "Nothing came to mind" and then for the last line "This poem came to mind." Also, you used good rhymes that made sense. I usually have a hard time with poems, especially trying to think up good rhymes. Nice job.
