Friendship

Author's note- I read a secret for two a few days ago, and it reminded me of how important friendship is  in day to day life.
Friendship.  It is one of those things that always sounds easier than it really is,  it is like a crutch when you've broken a leg, medicine for the ill, a light in a world of darkness.  To a blind person, friendship is the only thing that lets them see, the only thing that keeps them safe in the world.   A human deformity could be seen as a positive thing or negative, an advancement  in life or a pain, and whether a change for better or worse it gives us a chance to lean on people that we might have never been able trust before.   Those people can change our lives, giving you a life that you never thought you could get.  In this short story, a secret for two, the horse is not only a best friend but a stable life as well.  The blind man would be forever blind, but given a chance to see, he can see better than anyone else.  He can see the joy in the simple things like milk and horses, feel the light of a new day as a gift, not just another chance to give in.  Friendship is the eyes to a blind man and a stable ground when your legs feel like jelly.

Plenty often my friends have made me realize how hard life would be like without them, to be seemingly alone on the earth.  They taught me that in order to have a friend, you need to be one, being a friend is a very underestimated task.  Speaking of which reminds me of a story.

I was, back then, just a small psychotic second grader.  The wind was blowing hard, and it was cold out.  I, being, not so very smart, was sitting underneath the playground in my short sleeved shirt trying to conserve body heat.    I was supposed to be out running around, like my friends,  but the coldness of that fall day was enough to curl up into a ball and wish yourself to a happy place.  All of a sudden I wasn't alone anymore, my friend was now curled up next to me in her, oh so appealing, winter coat.  What was she doing here? Why wasn't she out with the other girls? I asked so and she answered,
"I thought you might have been cold." So we stayed close, sharing her small coat, together forever.

I'll never forget that day because, like the horse, she was my best friend.  She cared about me, not her coat keeping me from freezing, but the warmth in her heart.  As long as friendship is involved I will never fall.  Joseph was a friend, even as a horse, to someone who needed him.  Pierre was a friend to Joseph when he needed it.  That is a forever friendship, when one is gone the other one must leave as well.

Selfishness

 Author's note-
Throughout history there have been ruler who have decided that they loved themselves even more than they love their country. Their money is very addicting and it is sometimes hard to say no once  it has gone too far.  In this book they pigs say that everyone is equal but unknown to the animals the pigs are rising to power.  What have the pigs done to deserve this role? The pigs are just bossing around everyone and not really doing anything but fighting with one another.  The pigs are taking over, turning into exactly someone exactly like Mr. Jones was.

There have been people in the world that have an incredible amount of power.  So much so that they can't even see who they are influencing with their own selfish decisions.  Most often these people are leaders but often their leadership role gets overused and it can cause things much worse than extreme selfishness.  Like an overthrow, war, and possibly worse.  The Czar and Czarina of Russia had much power over their people though needless to say, they didn't use their role very well.  I hardly blame them because sometimes it is hard not to get caught up in yourself when you have that much power and money.  Their will power is overestimated, their bravery under.  They are cowardly and stupid, without a hope after being overthrown.  But they was selfish and idiots so they fought back and of course that never turns out too well for the weaker party.  The pigs have power in this book and because of the fact that they were simply pigs before all this makes it even the more easy to drown in your own power.

Rulers throughout history have been put down for their lack of ability.  They lack the ability to run a country. But often they are overestimated.  Their responsibilities ignored for lack of time between being rich and powerful and material-obsessed.  Sure they love their country but they love themselves even more.  Everyone would, given the situation.  And in this case, everything as well.  The pigs  have all the milk they could ever drink, as well as the apples. The pigs have control over the entire farm and all the animals that live on it.  The conditions are perfect for a disaster,  a disaster called selfishness.

The animals are said to all be equal but the pigs are obviously the most important, at least they claim to be.  They put themselves higher than the others and without realizing it are turning just as bad as the humans they overthrew.  The other animals  (not including the pigs) cant see what the pig are becoming.  In real life Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin are putting themselves higher while putting their subjects lower and unknown to the pheasants the three men are turning into exactly who the Czar and Czarina were.  Like I said, when you are given that much power over that many people, it gets to you head and replaces the kindness you once felt towards your country or farm.

Through the eyes of the glory life, the only person you see is yourself.  It is hard not to when you can practically drown in your money.  Make no mistake, the temptation is great and we realize that.  That is why we have our government the way we do, so no single ruler could forget all about their country and live in their fortune.
